This could backfire and open room for questioning you may or may not be prepared to handle. It allows for theories to begin to form, such as the father's motive for destroying the device, which implies the defendant's guilt.
"give them a old phone of mine thats all smashed up"
If they are aware of the device make and model before requesting access to it, or other information that could allow for enumeration tactics to be applied for determining if the device could be the device used in the applicable time range of the alleged criminal activity; it could pose a risk of potentially backfiring.
---
If I were to provide any recommendation here, I would first want more context and variables; however, from those present, I could only suggest what has already been presented as an option by previous users. Being able to supply them with the phone they have their interests in, and that device having its data written over numerous times. Then a decoy environment is placed onto the device so as not to raise suspicion (Installed messaging application that shows sock puppet accounts with harmless interactions dating back to whenever; if this isn't possible, then just some kind of environment so as not to appear to be a factory reset device merely.)
Another potential consideration is informing them that the device has since been destroyed or lost due to day-to-day activity and unfortunate misfortune. This way, you eliminate possible data recovery altogether and prevent your father from being charged with tampering with evidence. However, this allows for scrutiny and suspicions to arise regarding your innocence.

In what I understand they havent taken the phone from you, that would posibly mean they don't have a warrant, so If you voluntarily allow them to search your phone, they can do so without a warrant. (Don't Consent) so a judge must grant a warrant based on probable cause, allowing police to search your device. Get lawyer and tell them your situation and move on from there. Dont act irrationally, also turn off the phone and remove the sim card. Deleting the data may not matter since the phone is still going to have the same IMEI. Remember to buy a new phone and get a new phone number.
and please tell me that you didnt use the phone to make this thread.
